A regular joint meeting of Northwestern region’s development council and co-ordination committee took place on 11-12 of June 2015 in the city of Varshets under the guidance of its chairperson – Mr. Ivaylo Petrov, Regional governor of Montana.
Event was attended by representatives of Ministries, Rregional governors of Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven and Lovech regions, Deputy regional governors, municipal mayors, syndicates, state administrative structures and universities.
Mr. Ivo Tsvetkov – municipal mayor of Byala slatina was chosen to be a chairperson of the council for the time between 01.07.2015 and 31.12.2015.
A representative of the “Road infrastructure” National agency presented some information about the upcoming rehabilitation of national roads in 2015-2017.
Annual monitoring report for the implementation of the 2014-2020 Regional development plan in 2014 was presented and approved by the council members.
Deputy Minister of the regional development and public works Mr. Ivan Asparuhov presented information about the elaboration process of the targeted investment programme which is intended to support the progress of regions which fall behind in terms of their socio-economic development.
An expert from the National Spatial planning center presented the results of the socio-economic analysis of Northwestern Bulgaria.
Council members were also introduced to the approved changes in the Methodology of the National Energy efficiency programme for residential buildings and its implementation stage on the region’s territory.
Useful innovative business practices in the region were presented by a representative of the “Electrostart” Shareholder’s company.
Council members also had the opportunity to become familiar with the focus and thematic objective of the Innovative smart specialization strategy of Bulgaria.
Development council of the Northwestern Region supported the proposal of Pleven Region for the preservation of the Interreg V-A cross-border programme’s info point in Pleven.
Proposals for changes and additions in the content of the regional development Law were presented and discussed together with the information, concerning the progress of the OIperational programmes on the territory of the region.
A representative of the Bulgaria – Serbia cross-border programme’s Joint technical secretariat presented useful information about upcoming calls for proposals.
